The School’s Out Central Texas Due Diligence Committee Recommends The Central Texas Afterschool Network to Serve as Intermediary
We are excited and proud to announce that CTAN has been named as the recommended intermediary organization to serve as a backbone to a coordinated Out-of-School Time system in Central Texas. The Due Diligence Committee of School’s Out Central Texas (SOCT) announced this recommendation last week following a lengthy evaluation of multiple candidate organizations. On Monday, executive-level leadership from Central Texas organizations that participated in the Executive Director Summit Series received the detailed recommendation with an opportunity to approve and share feedback.
If approved, this will mean that CTAN will merge strategic efforts with SOCT, undergo a name change, and lead the charge to ensure that together we can achieve the School’s Out Central Texas Vision, which is:
All Central Texas children and youth become future-ready by participating in an ecosystem of high-quality Out-of-School Time experiences.
The United Way for Greater Austin was also named in the recommendation as a strong partner in Youth Program Quality—CTAN will continue to rely on United Way to coordinate training and assessment around Youth Work Methods, as well as to support existing CTAN professional development initiatives like the monthly trainings and CTAN University.
Our top priority is ensuring that all of the resources and opportunities CTAN has always provided for members will continue to be available, and will also evolve and grow as we take on a more high-profile and expansive role as the backbone intermediary organization. This is the first step. Over the coming weeks we will be working to direct all of the momentum around CTAN and SOCT so that we can begin the next chapter in serving Out-of-School Time providers in Central Texas.
Please join us at our first General Membership Meeting on September 1, 2015 from 10:30am to 11:30 am to learn more about the details of the recommendation, the strategic plan, and our progress on building a system that makes it easier for providers and funders to serve Central Texas youth.
Lastly, thank you. The work of CTAN and SOCT is possible because you and your organizations have high expectations for what we can accomplish together, and you have shown that time and time again by participating as active partners. We’re honored to be part of your team, and we’re excited to lead you into new possibilities.
Sincerely,
The CTAN Executive Team
